This year MLC will host a guided birding tour on Saturday, May 12th. The “
Webber Canyon” bird tour is just one of the many guided tours offered during the 2012 Ute Mountain – Mesa Verde Birding Festival. The Birding Festival lasts five days and brings enthusiastic birders from around the country to enjoy the incredible variety of birds and other animals present in the Four Corner’s region of Colorado.
Tour Information: Join experienced bird guide Andrew Mackie for a walking tour of Webber and East Canyons just south of Mancos, CO and experience transitional habitat from pinion-juniper to sheltered cliffs and lush riparian areas. Species observed in the past include Mexican Spotted Owl, Southwest willow flycatcher, Loggerhead shrike, Peregrine falcon, Bald eagle, Golden eagle, and Blue grosbeak. If we are lucky, we will also see bighorn sheep perched on the cliffs above us! Lunch is provided. $55.
